The incident occurred in the early morning hours at the business Monostereo, located on the famous San Sebastián Street. According to the preliminary investigation, a fight broke out among several individuals. The altercation continued outside the establishment in a public space, at which point one of those involved allegedly fired a firearm, causing the death of the tourist. Municipal police officers in the area were able to intervene immediately and arrest the five suspects as they attempted to flee the scene. As part of the intervention, evidence was seized, including a mask and a vehicle used by the suspects, in which the firearm used in the incident is presumed to be. The commissioner of the San Juan Municipal Police, Juan Jackson, highlighted that the quick and effective response is a direct result of the new security plan designed for the Christmas holidays. «Our agents were strategically deployed conducting preventive patrols, which allowed us to act immediately, control the situation, and make arrests on the spot. This plan is designed to anticipate, respond, and protect,» Jackson stated.
