Puerto Rican musician Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González, who was his wife for almost 30 years and with whom he has two children, officially divorced this Tuesday. Although the couple continues to be in a legal dispute over control of two corporations of the singer.
Mireddys González posted a reflection on her Instagram story in which she expressed her gratitude for the lessons learned throughout her life, which has led her to be the woman she is today. For his part, Daddy Yankee shared a phrase on his social media about the importance of moving forward and maintaining faith, thanking for the support in the most difficult moments.
The couple's separation took place through a videoconference, where the end of the marriage was officially recognized as "irreparable breakdown," according to documents presented in court. The decision was made by Judge Eva Soto of the First Instance Court (TPI) of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Although the divorce has been finalized, the legal dispute for control of El Cartel Records and Los Cangris Inc. continues between Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González. The singer has objected to Judge Anthony Cuevas's decision to conclude the corporate dispute, claiming that there is still information yet to be provided about the companies.
The conflict over the corporations intensified last December when the González sisters made transfers of 100 million dollars from corporate bank accounts to personal accounts without the artist's authorization. To address the situation, Daddy Yankee announced at the end of January the hiring of the banking security firm CCG Consultants LLC, led by Carlos Cases Gallardo, former head of the FBI in Puerto Rico.
