Daddy Yankee Finalizes Divorce in Carolina

Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee announced his official divorce from Mireddys González after nearly 30 years of marriage. The couple decided to end their relationship due to "irreparable breakdown," according to documents filed in court during a videoconference without having to appear in person in court. Judge Eva Soto of the First Instance Court of Carolina, Puerto Rico, issued the divorce order on January 31 after the hearing held on Tuesday.

The separation of the couple became public in December after they stopped following each other on social media, fueling rumors that had been circulating for months. Despite having reached a divorce agreement, legal disputes regarding the control of the companies El Cartel Records and Los Cangris Inc. still persist.

Daddy Yankee has faced various controversies throughout his career. He has been accused of plagiarism by other artists, although no serious legal actions have been taken against him. He also had public confrontations with Don Omar despite being considered the "kings of reggaeton."

Amid rumors of infidelity and marital crises, Daddy Yankee has always tried to keep his private life away from scandals and manage controversies discreetly to preserve his solid image in the industry. In 2022, he announced his retirement from music with the tour "La Última Vuelta," generating speculation about the real reasons for his decision.

Mireddys González, for her part, expressed her gratitude for the lessons learned during their marriage: "I am grateful for the lessons and learnings because without that, I would not be the woman I am today," she wrote in a social media post. After overcoming difficulties and challenges, the couple finally managed to reconcile and announced a final tour together for 2022.
