Puerto Rican Xander Zayas successfully defended his WBO super welterweight title and captured the same belt from the WBA by defeating the German boxer Abass Baraou by split decision at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan. The 23-year-old Zayas became the first Puerto Rican to unify two titles in his home country. The judges scored the fight 116-112, 116-112, and 112-116 in favor of Zayas.
