Incident Between Player and Coach in Panama Team

A shameful incident occurred during the Group A game of the World Baseball Classic between Panama and Colombia at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Colombia won the game 4-3, eliminating Panama from any chance of advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament organized by Major League Baseball. The unfortunate incident happened in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jonathan Araúz came in as a pinch-hitter and was grounded out to second base. Upon returning to the dugout, as shown by the live game broadcast, Araúz was seen upset with manager José Mayorga, and seconds later, he had to be restrained by teammates and coaching staff. In the post-game press conference, manager José Mayorga was questioned about the altercation but refused to discuss the matter. 'We are not going to comment. They are clubhouse issues, and we resolve them in the clubhouse,' Mayorga told the media. Meanwhile, Araúz, in an interview with ESPN Centroamérica, harshly criticized the management of the Panama team. 'It is useless to give 100% if the leader is not aggressive,' was one of Araúz's criticisms of the coaching staff.
